Botticelli: Rhythm of the Line

Botticelli: Rhythm of the Line

Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco

A short-form documentary for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, edited around the idea that drawing was not a preliminary step for Botticelli, but the engine of his practice. Directed by Khamisi Norwood, the film moves through Florence, the Uffizi, curator interviews, and close studies of drawings and paintings to make a technical art-history argument feel visual and alive.

The edit follows line as both subject and structure. It gives the audience time to look closely at faces, hands, drapery, composition, and repeated gestures, then pulls back into place, biography, and workshop context. The pacing is intentionally measured: enough momentum to carry the argument, enough stillness for the drawings to do their work.
